We had a very busy 4th of July this year. I love living close to family and consider it a huge blessing. Sometimes, however, it is difficult to make sure holiday time is separated evenly between both sides of the family. Both my parents and Sean's parents get to spend a lot of time with Penner so I don't stress about it too much.
We started out the day at Starbucks. My sister works at the Starbucks in Park Ridge, so we all went in to pay her a visit. Penn is doing really well with potty training when we are at home, but being out and about is always tricky. He did a great job at Starbucks! I was so proud of him. The people sitting next to us must have thought we were crazy when every time he peed on the potty and came back to the table he got a little treat and the "potty song." Penner loves his Pop Pop, and he also loves Pop Pop's ipad.
After Starbucks, we went to Sean's parents house and swam for a while. Penner and EmmaBree play really well together, which I am grateful for. They only fight when it is around bed time. They were so funny just floating around in these inner tubes. Penn insisted on wearing those goggles.
That turtle is as big as the pool!
Then we met up with my family again, to see fireworks in Elmwood Park. My mom picked the closest possible seats. There was a band and it was sooooo loud!
My mom and dad brought Penner a bunch of glow sticks and other toys and treats. However, when my dad saw these glowing swords he decided Penn needed one of those as well.
Audrey and Brent!
Penner dancing and clapping to the ridiculously loud band.
It was Penner's first time watching fireworks and he covered his ears and cuddled with Sean or I the entire show. He did not seem like he was a huge fan, but then on the way home he kept asking to see more.
